This carefully proportioned combination encourages strong root growth by providing excellent drainage and just the right amount of moisture retention. While ideal for Aroids, it also suits many other houseplants that thrive in well-aerated substrates. For an even more customized medium, consider mixing in additional perlite, charcoal, or fir bark to fine-tune water flow and nutrient retention.
What sets our mix apart is its special adjustment for the weather and common home environments in Canada. Recognizing the challenges of our cooler and often drier indoor climates, our mix is designed to retain more moisture, ensuring that your Aroid plants stay hydrated and healthy throughout the year.
While other Aroid mixes may tout a chunkier blend, it's important to note that chunkier isn't always better. A too-chunky mix can compromise moisture retention, leading to dry soil and stressed plants, especially in climates that already struggle with dry indoor air. Our mix strikes the perfect balance, tailored to the specific needs of Canadian homes and weather conditions.
The bag is about 6 1/2" × 4" × 18" in dimension, contains around 5.5 litres(186 oz) of soil. Each bag is enough to fill 15 nursery planters in 3.5" - 4" diameter, or 5 nursery planters in 5.5" - 6" diameter. The bag has metal tabs that allow easy opening and secure closure.
